In this publication, Carlo explores how glory holes—those anonymous interventions in public toilets—have historically served as places of anonymity, desire, and resistance in the face of a heteronormative society. From this starting point, the text expands towards a broader reflection on leather memories, their forms of documentation and their visibility.
Canún dialogues with voices like Juan Jacobo Hernandez, the Homosexual Front of Revolutionary Action (FHAR), the Center for Information and Documentation of Homosexuality 'Ignacio Alvarez' (CIDHOM), Ann Cvetkovich, Ulises Carrión, José Esteban Muñoz and Jaanus Samma among others to think about how to preserve (or not) leather stories: from gossip, the ephemeral archive, to its artistic repropriation.
In addition, the text is accompanied by 8 collaborations of projects and initiatives that actively work to preserve, recreate and circulate leather memories.
