These seven songs which I selected are made by musicians from Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. This is a region that shares a similar history, politics and geography where borders have moved many times and many languages are spoken. The songs evoke the landscape of these countries; flat ancient forests, big wide lakes, and take folk music from this region as their main influence. I wanted to highlight the differences and similarities in this area by choosing songs which consist of different tempi, rhythm, and come from different periods of contemporary music history.
