Working Girls, created by Pia Davis, draws from real life events while moving between reality, fantasy, memory, and imagination. For this screening, the film is presented alongside an installation of objects, props, materials, and artifacts created through the making of the film and through Davis' broader artistic practice.
Together, the film and installation create a world that extends beyond the screen. Some objects belong directly to the story of Working Girls, while others exist more freely within the visual and emotional language of the work. The installation brings together fragments of real life with elements of fantasy, allowing the boundaries between the two to remain open.
The exhibition is not a recreation of the film but rather an expansion of its universe-- a space where personal experience, constructed environments, found objects, and imagined possibilities can coexist. The objects become artifacts of both the film and the larger world Davis has been building through her art.
Working Girls invites viewers into this world and asks them to move between what is real, what is remembered, what is imagined, and what has been created.
