RECITAL!
Performance
Sewnata Machine

Saturday, May 11th, 8PM
RECITAL! will debut the Sewnata Machine, a sewing machine that generates various sounds through its connection to different effects pedals, allowing for sound manipulation in real time. The basis of this performance is the durational act of sewing live in front of an audience; sewing is a [feminized] domestic work that is not often seen in the public eye - especially not as a noise machine.
Series Archive is an ongoing new media craft project by Nicole Cooke. Cooke is interested in the exploration of clothing as a medium in art making. She designs and utilizes “clothing objects” as central players to larger performance works. These clothing objects may have tactile or conceptual functionality, depending on the role they play in performance. She is invested in the shape-shifting capacity of clothing to lend itself - depending on its application - to costume, wearable art, fashion or functionality. This inherent fluidity is the founding of Series Archive. RECITAL! will introduce Series 3.
