puri, is the act of unraveling. puri [푸리] zine, is a dismantling of colonialism, labor exploitation, racism and genocide through the lens of Korean history, modern, ancient, domestic, and diasporic.
puri zine issue no. 1 “Fascist Flag” takes a view of Japan’s violent colonial past, and the efforts by some to whitewash and erase that history. The ubiquity of the Rising Sun, and its perception as a benign symbol of Japan belies an amnesia of some of humanity's most depraved acts. This forgetting is dangerous and it is part of what prevents our society from moving on from, atoning for, and ensuring that we do not repeat grave transgressions against humanity.
