Description:

MARNmentorship is a yearlong program at the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network that pairs emerging or transitioning artists with established artists. This is the 18th year with 32 artist participants. Practice in Progress celebrates these 16 mentorship pairings and their work, reflections, and process. The program focuses on fostering mentorship between each artist pairing, professional development, and building a vibrant community space. "Practice in Progress" was published alongside the exhibition at MARN ART + CULTURE HUB from April 11-June 4, 2023. The book is expansive to the exhibition and serves as a historical archive preserving the progression of these artists over one year. The artists are working in a wide range of mediums from movement/dance to painting to animation to sculpture to art+tech. The pairings were often interdisciplinary, not always pairing within mediums.
